TIS THE SEASON

Here it is December. Fill up your activity calendar with lots of activities and fun at the Community Center.  Come on over and enjoy a good meal, meeting friends or just visiting.
Friday, Dec. 4, Breakfast with Santa, starting at 7 am until 10 am. Come and have a great breakfast of ham, eggs, O'Brien potatoes, biscuits and gravy. Adults $8.00, kids $3.50, bring the kids for a visit and photo with Santa.
Saturday, Dec. 5, Bingo,  Beef Tips Dinner starting at 5:00 until 6:30 with Bingo starting at 7:00.
Wednesday, Dec. 9, sing along at the center starting at 10:30.  John Fries on his guitar will be here to entertain you. 
T.I.P. Tamales home made $20.00 a doz. call the center 855-3300 before Thursday, Dec. 11 to be picked up by Dec. 19th. 
Saturday, Dec. 12, Christmas Dinner starting at 5:00 until 7:30.  $15.00 for adults, $7.50 for children.
Tuesday, Dec. 15, the last Jam Session of the year, hamburger or cheeseburger or hotdogs or a bowl of chili starting at 5:30 until 8:00pm.  Enjoy the sweet music of our local talented musicians.
Wednesday, Dec. 16, Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and  potluck, starting at 10:00 am, with a 50/50.  Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and share your favorite dish.  Fun and prizes galore.
Friday, Dec.18 & Saturday, Dec. 19 Santa will be at in the center at the Outside Christmas Tree from
 6- 7:30 pm
Thursday Dec. 24 & Friday Dec. 25 Center will be Closed.  Wishing you  a very Merry Christmas
Wednesday,  Dec 30 Birthday Bash. Enjoy your lunch of a Polish Sausage Dogs, mixed veggies and diced peaches. Happy Birthday to all December birthday folks. 

Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1 Center will be closed for the New Year. 
Menu for the week Thurs. Dec 3, Salisbury Stake w/gravy, baked potato, wheat break, pineapple tidbits
Fri. Dec. 4, tuna salad sandwich on wheat bread, navy bean soup, fruited jello  Mon. Dec. 7, meatloaf w/gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, wheat roll, Tues. Dec. 8 hot dog, chili beans, sliced apples. Wed. Dec. 9, Chicken thigh w/mushroom sauce, baked sweet potato, hi c salad, wheat bread, pineapple tidbits.
Don't forget to call in the day before by noon to order your meal .Donations at $1.50, non-senior rated $3.50  Super Bowl Beerocks, orders your starting Jan. 4th with pick up Sat. Feb. 6th. $4.00 each
Mary's Closet, new and used clothing and much more, open on Mon & Wed. from 9 till 11.
 Don't forget to renew your membership.   We are a community Center and available for community parties, etc.

The Season Is Here!

Get your calendar out and mark the days to come to the senior center.
Saturday, Nov. 7, Bingo, Meat Loaf.  Dinner will be served from 5 - 6:30 pm.  Brandy will be on hand for the Bingo game.  Don't forget to bring a new unwrapped toy for our "Santa Baby".
Monday, Nov. 9, Red Hatters are hosting a workshop to create Ugly Christmas Sweaters workshop.  Sweaters will be available for $3.00 and all accessories needed to create a "spiffie" creation. 
Wednesday, Nov. 11, Center will be closed.  There will be a special Luncheon to honor local Veterans, starting at 11:30.  Beef stew, rolls, salad and dessert will be served.  
Tuesday,Nov. 17, Jam Session, Let someone else fix supper for you. Starting at 5:30pm, Hamburger, cheeseburger, hot dog or a bowl of chili is on the menu.  Stay and enjoy the sweet music played by our local talent.  
Wednesday,,Thursday Nov.18, 19 Tree Decorating at the Museum.  The center will be decorating a Christmas tree for the contest at the Museum.  Be sure and  go to the opening day on Saturday,Nov. 21 and vote for the Center's Tree.
Saturday, Nov. 21, Soup and Pie event at the center.  Serving from 5 - 7:00 pm, your choice and all you can eat for $8.00, with a chance to win the 50/50 if you participate.
Monday, Nov. 23, Gift wrapping for "Santa Baby" gifts.  Bring bows, ribbons and paper to help wrap the toys that have been collected to be distributed later on.  Still need new items for preteen girls & boys.
Thursday/Friday, Nov. 26, 27 Center will be closed.  Enjoy the Thanksgiving Days with family & friends.
Saturday, Nov. 28 Christmas Boutique at the center from  9am to 3pm.  There are still booths available for just $10.00.  Come and share your special talent with the community. Lunch will be available from 11 - 2pm. "Costco" dogs, chips & soda just $5.00
Senior Menu for Nov. 5, Cheeseburger, potato wedges, fruit, Fri. Nov. 6 breaded fish, mixed veggies, rich pilaf, peaches.  Mon. Nov. 9 BBQ Beef Sandwich, mixed veggies, pears, Tues. Nov.10 enchilada casserole.  Thurs. Nov. 23 Italian style chicken thigh, mixed veggies, roll applesauce.  Fri. Nov. 13, tuna sandwich, minestrone soup fruit.Don't forget to call a day ahead before noon to order your meal.
Remember to renew your membership to the senior center.Single $20, Dual $30.
"Mary's Closet" is open from 9 am to 11 Monday & Wednesday.  All proceeds go to the Center.

AWESOME AUGUSE AT THE CENTER

The center, a place to gather for a meal, events and support.  As our newsletter mentioned we had some unexpected financial challenges this past month.  If you can help in any way it would be greatly appreciated.
Tues, Aug 18, Jam Session, dinner is served starting at 5:30 with great entertainment following.
Fri. Aug 21, Beginning Computer Class, starting 2 sessions; 9:30 and 10;30.  Call the center to sign up.
Sat. Aug 22, International Buffet Dinner Great opportunity to sample foods from around the world for just $10.00.  If you have a special dish to prepare for this event contact the center.
Wed. Aug 26, Birthday Bash.  Come on over and have cake and celebrate the August birthdays.
LOCAL ARTISTS are invited to display their art work at the center.  Call to sign up.
MARY'S CLOSET, new and used clothes etc, open 9 to 11 am on Mon & Wed.
FRESNO FAIR, don't forget to get your exhibits ready for the fair.  Deadline for entry forms is Sat. Sept 12, however the center will be taking the forms on Thursday, Sept. 10. Any questions? Check with Anne Beach.
CHILI COOK OFF October 17 - OK Chili Heads, so you think your Chili is the Best, Prove it.
Come to the center to get your registration form and pay your $10.00 entry fee and get cookin!

JUST JULY

Greetings from, the Senior Center.  Mark your calendar for the following events that are happening at the center.
This Sat. July 11, Ceramics made easy @ 10:00 am.  This is a class for everyone, design your own bowl by blowing bubbles. Sounds like fun and is only $15.00.  Call today to register.
Monday, July 13,  Red Hatters will meet at the Center @ 10:00 am for the 11th Birthday Circus.
Jam on Tues. July 21, If you are lookin' to get out of the kitchen, come on over.  Richard and Dennis cook up a mean hot dog or hamburger starting at 5:30.  Then stay for the talented music of the mountains and with our own Cowboy Poet.
Last Wednesday of the month, July 29 is out birthday bash. Come and celebrate those July birthdays with cake and ice cream.
Thursday, July 30, Supervisor Pooghigan will be at the center @ 10:30 am to answer question's you may have concerning our community.Come and meet with her.
We are still accepting used flags.  The ceremony will take place later this month @ the center.
All you local artists, the center would like to display your art work for one month.  Call the center to schedule your work 559-855-3300.
Fair books are available at the center.  It's never too early to get your project going.  Deadline for entry forms is Sept 12.
Summer Salad meals are available.  Call the day before if you want to order the salad or regular meal.

It;s a great day at the Center


It's May at the center.  Just a reminder if you haven't paid your membership renewal for the year, please do so.  Also if you have paintings, neeredlepoint or any type of wall hangings you would like to display, please contact the center.  Just for sharing.  We are in need of wire coat hangers for a craft Christmas project.  Remember "Mary's Closet" is open Mon. & Wed. 9:00 to 11:00 am.with all proceeds going to the center.  Community Bingo,  Sat. May 9th.  Chicken Enchilada Dinner will be served from 5:00 to 6:30 for only $8.00.  The Center will be closed on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.  Don't forget to bring your worn Amerian flags to the center for an offical Military Flay Disposal ceremony in June.  The Center is also collecting toys for Santa.  Start saving new unwrapped safe toys to give out to the children at Christmas time. Waffle Breakfast is Friday the 29th starting at 7:00 am to 10:00 am.  This will be our last one until September.  Mark your canendar.  June 27th, the center will be having a Yard Sale.  Booths will be for rent for $10.00.  At our June General Meeting on June 3rd, a representative from Cal Fire will be present to talk about prevention.  Ceramic workshop is scheduled for July 11.  If interested please let the center know as soon as possible.  Community events in June; newspaper drive on the 16th, as well as a VFW yard sale in the parking lot of Big D's and on the 23rd, E-Waste next to CVS.  Menu for the week.  Thurs. May 7th, Salisbury Steak, baked potato, tossed salad; Fri. May 8, egg salad sandwich, potato soup, Mon. May 11, meatloaf w/gravy, Tues, May 12, Chicken in Mushroom Sauce, Wed. Spring is here?

Welcome to the Sirra Oaks Senior Center.  What a great place to meet folks and enjoy activities.   Mark you caledar and come on over.
Sat, April 4th, Community Bingo, starting at 5:00 - 6:30.  This month its German Stew.  Bingo starts at 7:00 and you just might just be a winner on the hot ball.
Wed, April 8, Annual Volunteer Luncheon. Be sure and sign up before hand if you are planning to attend
Tues. April 21, Jam Session.  Kitchen is open at 5:30, serving the best hambuger,cheeseburger, hotdog or chili in this area.  Our local talented musicians will entertain you from 7:00 until 8ish or a little after.  You never know when the cowboy poet will show up.
Fri. April 24, Waffle Breakfast.  Start your day off wih a delicious meal of waffles, eggs to order, bacon and coffee.  Starting time is 7:00 to 10:00am. 
If you have Amrican Flags and need to dispose of them, the center is planning an approved sanctioned ceramony in the near future. Please bring your flags to the center this month. 
Remember the regular activities such as crafts nickel bingo, qulting cmpouter class and low impact exercise class.

Welcome to February

As our President, Pat Gallegos wrote in the monthly newsletter, the older you get the faster time goes.
So here goes dates to put on your February Sierra Oaks Community Center calendar.
Sat. Feb. 7 Community Bingo, enchilada Dinner, starting at 5:00 - 6"30. Bingo starts @ 7:00.
Mon. Feb. 9, Red Hatter's Mardi Gras at 10:00 am.
Wed. Feb. 11, Valentine Party/Chocolate potluck.  Bring anything made with chocolate.
Tues. Feb. 17, Jam Session. Be here at 5:30 to grab a hamburger, hot dog or bowl of chili, with dessert.
Wed. Feb 25, Birthday Bash.  Come and help celebrate those February birthdays.
Fri. Feb 27, Waffle Breakfast.  Come and enjoy a great breakfast. Eggs, cooked to order, bacon and those wonderful waffles.
Remember to fill out your volunteer sheets.This information assists in getting grants from the county for food services.  We appreciate all you do for the center.
The Senior Meals, Be sure and call  before noon the day before, to order your meal.PLEASE call in if your are going to cancel, we have to pay for those meals if you don't show up. On the menu for this week.
 Wed. Feb. 4 is Hot meatball sub sandwich, Thurs. Feb. 5 Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Friday,Feb. 6 Bologna & Cheese sandwich on wheat bread, with vegetable soup.
The center will be closed on FEB 16, for PRESIDENT'S day.  Watch for more events coming soon.

A NEW YEAR AT THE CENTER

Welcome to 2015.  First off, thank you for your support.  We have a great center and it's folks like you that make it a fun place to visit'
CALENDAR OF  EVENTS AT THE CENTER  
Sat. Jan 10, Bingo &  Lasagna Dinner, starting at 5:00 - 6:30.  Bingo begins at 7:00 pm
Wed. Jan 14, Ham Dinner/Potluck, 11:30 be sure and sign up and bring your favorite dish.
Tues. Jan 20 Jam Session, with dinner.  Delicious hamburger or hot dogs or a bowl of chili & desert.  Starting at 5:30 - 7:00  Bring you instrument and join in the musical fun.
Fri. Jan 30, Waffle Breakfast.  eggs, cooked to order, bacon and wonderful waffles.  Serving from 7 -10 am.
BEER ROCKS Get ready for the Super Bowl by ordering home made Beer rocks from the center.  The are $3:50 each and you can call in your order or come by he center and sing up for a dozen or two until Jan. 28th.  Pick up your order on Sat. Jan. 31 before noon.  
The center will be closed on Monday Jan. 19 in honor of Martin Luther King Day.
Remember if you want to eat at the center please notice the front desk before 11:30 the day before.Thursday is Beef Stroganoff, Friday, Chili Verde. Monday, 1-12, Spaghetti, Tues, Polish Sausage, Wed. BBQ Chicken Thigh, Thurs.Pepper Steak and Fri. Shredded BBQ Pork.
